Best Concert Venues and Clubs in Madrid

Travel Tips - Ross French - August 4, 2011

Maria Climent is a 26-year-old Catalan lady. After studying translation, she decided her life was odd enough to became a humor scriptwriter and by default, a blogger. This is how she’s now a mother of no one and a better person. She also likes to cook!

Madrid is a vivid place where a lot of concerts are performed daily at different spots, mainly in bars, but for local festivals performances are also held in the streets and parks.
If you are an addict to live music, and particularly like pop and rock, don’t miss this selection of the best concert venues in the city regarding the concerts’ and just in case you have in mind to spend a couple of days at one of the Madrid apartments:

Sala Heinken: Though as a club I don’t really like its music and ambience (too commercial or too electronic for my taste), I must say that as a concert venue this is a milestone in hosting important concerts every week. I strongly recommended the following ones: Tachenko, 6-Sept. Micah P. Hinson and CatPeople 15-oct 2011.
Taboo: This club in the middle of the Malasaña neighbourhood is home of the latest trends and is not afraid of betting on new groups or styles.

Joy Eslava: I particularly like this theatre and club. It’s huge, beautiful, eclectic, all tastes are satisfied at Joy Slave. In the very middle of the city and this venue also hosts humour monologues.

Buho Real: This club has been inviting high quality artist for more than 25 years. They bet on acoustics and giving a voice to local artists, which some of them have later become very popular. However, there are also international artists which I can recommend, like Aaron Thomas, September 5, 2011.

Moby dick: One of the favourites by indie lovers, hipsters and electropop dancers. The perfect place to spend a fun night in a friendly atmosphere. One of the most alternative clubs you can find amongst Madrid’s large offer.

Sala Sol: Apart from being in the city centre, so if you are staying in one of the apartments in Madrid it will not be far, it is the most famous one in the city, no doubt about it. It first opened in 1979, in the middle of the boom of the mythical and well-known Movida Madrileña. Now you can find party every night there. It has a wide variety or music, you just need to check out which night is the most appealing one for you.

More seriously, Ross French is a travel junkie & a tech nerd with a slightly concerning love for beer & wine. he a has a great awareness of life outside the 9-5 and hopes to aspire to be a hammock bum one day.
