The Best Dog Friendly Cottages in Suffolk

Travel Blog, Travel Tips - Ross French - April 15, 2022

If you’re planning your next Suffolk holiday, don’t forget to bring your dog along. You won’t need to worry about separation anxiety, and your pooch can motivate you to get outside and explore the best that Suffolk has to offer. Your four-legged pal will love the area’s wide-open spaces and coastal walks, and there are plenty of dog friendly cottages in Suffolk to choose from. Here are four of our top picks.

The Tryst

The Tryst is based in Lavenham, which is one of England’s best-preserved villages. This 3-bed cottage is one of the oldest properties in the area, and boasts classic mid-15th century timber framed architecture. Downstairs, you can expect a sitting room with a large corner sofa and 32″ smart TV, a separate kitchen and dining area with a sturdy oak table for six. There’s also a shower room and bedroom opening straight out through double doors into the garden.

Upstairs, you’ll find two king-sized rooms and a bathroom. Your dog will absolutely love running around in the private walled knot garden and dozing on the sun terrace.

Belchamp Hall Mill

Belchamp Hall Mill is a cosy 1 bedroom cottage set in Belchamp Walter, and it’s absolutely perfect for either a solo traveller or couple and their dog. This property is a conversion of the old mill, set within the impressive grounds of Belchamp Hall. You’ll have plenty to keep you occupied within the boundaries of this large private country estate, but there are also countless local walks and dog-friendly pubs nearby.

Box Valley Cottage

Box Valley Cottage is a 2-bed cottage found in Stoke-by-Nayland, widely considered to be one of Suffolk’s prettiest villages and offering amazing hiking opportunities in the Box Valley. You and your dog will love the large modern kitchen and dining area opening out onto the landscaped garden. For those colder nights, there’s also a cosy sitting room, complete with log burner. Box Valley Cottage is just 100 years from two of the most popular pubs in the area, along with a village shop when you need to stock up on doggy treats.

White Lion Cottage

White Lion Cottage is a grade II listed cottage, found in the market town of Hadleigh, and having been sympathetically renovated with a blend of style and modern convenience. The accommodation sleeps up to 5 guests across two king-sized and one single bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and opens onto a terrace for your doggy to enjoy. As it’s situated in town, you’ll enjoy the balance of being in a small town, while close to the rolling Suffolk countryside you’ll want to explore with your four-legged friend.

Book your dog-friendly accommodation today

Not all holiday cottages in Suffolk are suitable for holidays with your canine friend, and accommodation books up fast in this breath-taking region. So, if you’re planning to bring your dog with you, make sure you book well in advance to secure the best cottage for your entire family to enjoy.
