TOP FIVE THINGS TO DO IN NICE

France - Ross French - September 15, 2017

If you decide to spend your holidays in Nice, then you can be sure that you are in good company. This beautiful French city has been a popular tourist destination since the 18th century. The pleasant climate, beautiful location and soft light of this city helped Nice tourism to steadily grow from a very early period of time. At that time, many of the English aristocrats used to love to spend their holidays in Nice with their families. And the popularity of Nice seems to have withstood the test of time. In fact, Nice is the second most visited city in France after the romantic city of Paris. There are a lot of Nice attractions for you to check out if you decide to spend your holidays in Nice. Here are the top five things which you must try out during your trip to this beautiful city.

1. Take a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais

Named after the Englishmen who used to visit Nice during the early years and take a gentle walk along the shoreline, this beautiful location is one of the most popular Nice attractions among the tourists. Take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful shoreline, relax beside the water and watch people as they enjoy various activities like rollerblading, skating or biking. Have some fresh crepes from the vendors, or have a nice little lunch at one of the various restaurants on the beach.

2. Reach the Top of Le Chateau

Le Chateau is one of the Nice attractions which you must visit to have the best panoramic view of the city of Nice and the sea. You can take an elevator to the top of the Chateau. However, if you are feeling particularly energetic, you can also try to walk up the long, long stairways to the top. However, no matter which way you choose to reach the top, the view that you get to experience makes the journey worth every bit of it.

3. Visit Vieux Nice

Vieux Nice is the ‘old town’ area of today’s Nice city. Located below the hill of the main city, you will find a maze of winding streets and alleyways. The architecture that you get to experience here is absolutely breathtaking. You can also visit one of the many boutiques that you find here.

4. Day Trip to Monaco

Monaco is one of the most luxurious cities in France. If you cannot spend some days here, then taking a day trip to this indulgent city is a must during your holidays in Nice. Many buses and trains travel between these two cities on a daily basis. Just hop on any one of them, and enjoy a day exploring Monaco’s luxurious casinos, yacht culture, and gourmet restaurants.

5. Go to the Cours Saleya Flower Market

Nice is famous for all the beautiful flowers it produces. That makes the Cours Saleya Flower Market one of the must visit Nice attractions which you must check out during your holidays in Nice. And the flowers are not the only thing for which you should visit the market. There are a lot of cafes and shops lining the roads, which make the market a must visit destination for food lovers. Visiting the market can be just another excuse for sampling the deliciousness served in these local joints.
