6 Gift Ideas for Anyone Who Loves the Outdoors

Travel Tips - Ross French - July 29, 2021

Outdoors

Gift giving can be hard, but we’re here to help. If you have an outdoorsy person on your gift list, look no further. Here are six great ideas for anyone on your Christmas or birthday gift list who has an appreciation for the great outdoors.

1. Weather-Resistant Tent

A good, quality tent will last you for years of adventures. Not only is having a good tent absolutely essential for a good camping experience, it also keeps you safe from the elements and curious critters after dark. Make sure to pick out a tent that is big enough to accommodate the right number of people. You do not need a tent for twelve for two people and you also do not want to be stuck overstuffed in a tiny tent.

2. Steel-Toed Hiking Boots

For long-distance backpacking trips, a good pair of hiking boots is going to be the key ingredient in determining whether you have a good or bad experience. In the wilderness, you are bound to encounter some less than friendly terrain. Having a pair of sturdy hiking boots will help keep your gift recipient’s feet intact and comfortable amid the various hazards along the way. Plus, with proper care, these boots will last for years of good use.

3. Powerful Rechargeable Flashlight

A powerful flashlight is a great practical gift that anyone, outdoor enthusiast or not, can find use for. A tactical flashlight can be super handy for both seeing after dark and self defense, should the need arise. Get your hands on the brightest flashlight you can find and give it to someone who might need a little extra help seeing under the stars at night.

4. Camping Stove

Though not the flashiest gift you can offer, a camping stove is a handy little piece of camping equipment that every outdoorsy person should have on hand. With a camping stove, you can cook up all kinds of great campsite treats and classic campfire meals without having to worry about potentially causing a fire. With lots of places around the country instituting fire bans, if you want to have a warm meal at the end of a long day of hiking, a camping stove is your only option.

5. Kayak or Canoe

A kayak or canoe is a great gift for an outdoor adventurer who lives near water, whether it is a lake, river, or the ocean. While maybe on the more expensive side, a kayak or canoe can offer hours upon hours of water fun for people of all ages. Plus, with proper care, they can last a lifetime.

6. First-Aid Kit

Finally, investing in the best first aid kit is a thoughtful and practical gift for anyone who spends time outside. With an infinite number of ways to accidentally hurt yourself out in the wild, it is always a good idea to keep a well-stocked kit of first-aid supplies like band-aids, bandages, and antiseptic wipes on hand should someone need it. While no one wishes for someone to get hurt while out in the woods, it can happen. By choosing the best first aid kit, you can ensure that your loved ones are prepared for the worst, rather than being stuck in a bad situation.
