The SoCal Housing Market in Nutshell

Travel Blog - Ross French - April 26, 2022

The housing market exploded nationwide a couple of years ago. Experts predicted the high demand and cost of real estate would be more stabilized by now. Although it’s no longer at its peak, demand and prices haven’t quite fallen to where they were before the surge.

Location

One thing that makes a home more attractive to potential buyers is the location. Certain criteria such as the quality of education offered by local schools, nearby amenities, attractiveness to young families and geographical location can make a home more desirable. That desire can drive the selling price up.

If you have a house in a highly sought-after area, like southern California, you might consider taking advantage of the high real estate demands and sell. There can be several different reasons why you find yourself in a position to offload real estate. Maybe the property was left to you by a relative after they passed and you have no desire to relocate or make needed repairs. In these circumstances, off-market buyers with slogans like “we buy houses in San Diego” can help you sell quickly and efficiently.

Why Southern California?

Those who live in southern California already know why it’s a piece of heaven on earth and have a hard time living anywhere else afterward. There are several different inlets, lakes and beaches that make this area great for anything from boating to enjoying the wildlife and many things in between. Access to miles of white sand beaches and bodacious waves makes it an iconic place to surf.

You aren’t hard-pressed for a change of scenery in SoCal either! From beaches to deserts and mountains, you’re not far from whatever scene you’re looking for. The desert is home to different plants and animals, adding to the ecological diversity. You also never know what quaint little town you will find nestled in the hills and around the bends of the mountains. There is truly something that everyone can enjoy, regardless of how different their personal tastes are.

For a short drive, you can either immerse yourself in the various scenes of nature or let your hair down in the bustling nightlife. There is also plenty of waterfront dining with some of the best Mexican food you’ll ever find. In fact, it’s known for being the best statewide.

Sunny Disposition

It’s hard not to feel at peace and happy when you can see water from nearly every vantage point and have amazing weather and sunshine all year round. With the outside offering so much, keeping fit in SoCal is commonplace. Think about it, who wouldn’t want to be out hiking, biking and swimming in such beautiful weather? On average, more than 260 days out of the year are filled with sunshine. The temperatures don’t dip to what most people consider a typical winter and seeing snow is pretty rare.

Overall, the people are more laid back and have worked out a finely tuned work-life balance; in fact, they pride themselves on it. With stress being the common denominator for so many health issues, you could conclude living in SoCal is actually good for your health!

If variety is, in fact, the spice of life, you’ll find plenty of diversification here – everything from the people, scenery, wildlife and culinary delights. With so many outdoor activities to keep you busy from dusk to dawn, you’ll find getting healthy food isn’t a struggle; fresh fruits and vegetables are plentiful.

With all that SoCal has to offer, if you prefer having four seasons and not living with easy access to the beach, this isn’t the place for you.
