8 Beauty Essentials to Pack for a Trip

Travel Blog, Travel Tips - Ross French - September 21, 2022

If you’ve ever traveled for more than a weekend, then you know there are certain items that you absolutely must pack when traveling. Whether it’s for business or pleasure, it’s important to have the right supplies with you at all times—especially if you’re jetting off on vacation. Most people remember the basics, but when you want to look your best, you don’t want to forget your makeup, hair, and other beauty supplies. Here are some beauty essentials to always consider bringing:

Lip Balm

Lip balm is a must-have for any traveler. It prevents dry lips, which can lead to chapped skin, as well as cracking and bleeding. It also helps protect against windburn and other cold temperatures, so it’s not just in your best interest to pack lip balm if you’re traveling somewhere tropical but also anywhere that has cold weather.

Makeup Wipes

Makeup wipes are a must-have on any trip. They’re great for cleaning up makeup mistakes, they make it easy to get your face clean before bed and they can also be used to clean your brushes. Makeup wipes can also do wonders on your phone, so pack some of these in case you find yourself needing to clean up that greasy screen.

Lots of Lotion

No one wants to be without their favorite lotions, especially if you have picky skin. Hotel products can dry out your skin, so it’s best to use items that your body is used to. This is especially true if you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the sun or air conditioning. You can use it for everything from moisturizing your hands and face to keeping your hair healthy to preventing chapped lips.

The Right Hair Products

Your hair doesn’t need to suffer just because you’re going on vacation. For those with curly hair, make sure that you bring along travel size curly hair products, your favorite shampoo, conditioner, and even a small amount of hair oil to ensure that your hair gets all the right things while you’re away. To make sure your hair stays in place, pack travel-size versions of your favorite styling products as well.

Wet Brush, Detangling Brush, or Both

Most people have a love-hate relationship with their hair. On one hand, it’s gorgeous and smells like cinnamon; on the other, they have to deal with all the tangles and knots caused by humidity or a day spent running around town. Using the right brush means that you can get those tangles out no matter where you go. This is especially helpful if you have somewhere to be right after you get off the plane and you want to look your best.

Cleansing Cloths

Cleansing cloths are a great alternative to cotton pads because they’re reusable and can be washed with soap and water after use. They’re also useful for people who have sensitive skin, as some cleansing cloths have antimicrobial properties that keep your skin from getting irritated after being exposed to makeup and sweat throughout the day. There are many different kinds of cleansing cloths, try those that are made from 100% cotton for something soft and simple.

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Sure, you can get a new toothbrush when you arrive, but who wants to spend the start of their trip trying to find the right store when they can just enjoy their destination? It’s important to maintain good oral hygiene while traveling, but it can be tough to keep up with that when you’re on the road. The best way to do this is by being prepared ahead of time and packing your toothbrush and toothpaste in a small travel case or plastic bag. You may think that bringing an entire tube of toothpaste will be more convenient, but remember: if the TSA finds it in your luggage (and they might), they’ll confiscate it. Keep large containers in your checked baggage instead.

Nail File

If you want to keep your nails looking good, don’t forget to pack a nail file. You can use a nail file to smooth the edges of your nails or to smooth out the sides of your nails. You can also use it on top if you have rounded tips. Also, bring along some nail clippers for longer trips.
