See the David

The most obvious thing to do during your holidays in Florence is of course to see this masterpiece. David is one of the most famous sculptures of the whole wide world. This iconic sculpture is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture. The 17 feet tall statue is completely made out of marble, and it is a lot taller in real life than you would imagine. You will not be able to understand the magnitude of this historic sculpture until you see it in person. And when you do, be prepared to be awed by the majestic beauty of it.

Climb Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

This historic building is the main church of Florence city. The construction of this cathedral began in 1926, and the building looks pristine and beautiful till date. Time has only made the building more beautiful it seems. It is certainly one of the top most attractions in Florence . Climb the 463 steps to the top of the church to see the real beauty of this place. The panoramic view of Florence that you get from the top will surely take your breath away.

Visit the Uffizi Gallery Museum

The Uffizi Gallery Museum is another one of the top most Florence tourist attractions . You can see the world’s most important collection of Renaissance art in the museum. The Birth of Venus is the most prized possession here. A visit to this gallery is a must if you want to see some of the important artworks of the Renaissance period.

Visit the two plazas

Located right beside the Uffizi Gallery Museum, Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio, these two plazas are the most famous square of Florence city. There is also an open-air sculpture exhibit which you can check out while you are here. This is a really good spot to people-watch during your holidays in Florence.

Santa Croce church

Santa Croce houses the tombs of two of the greatest and most important personalities of the Renaissance period; Dante and Michelangelo. It is also the largest Franciscan church in Italy. Many tourists would consider this church to be somewhat of a second tier site. But if you are at all interested in the history and culture of the world, then you must come here to pay respect to these two great human beings, who helped to get the wheel of the modern world rolling and shape it as we know it.
