7 Reasons People of All Ages Love Sacramento

Travel Blog, USA - Ross French - February 5, 2023

Sacramento is a popular place for people of all ages. The area has everything you could ever want, from world-class restaurants to a thriving arts community and excellent transportation options. Whether you’re young or old, there are plenty of reasons why you will fall in love with living in Sacramento.

Plenty of Great Year-Round Activities

Sacramento’s location provides a great place for year-round outdoor activities. One of the biggest draws to Sacramento is its location. The city is located in a region known as California’s Central Valley, which is known for its mild climate year-round. In addition to being close to mountain ranges on both sides, it also has access to both the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay not too far away. Because of this, there are plenty of outdoor activities available all year long. Due to its proximity to so much water activity and hiking trails, Sacramento has become a popular destination for people who love biking or kayaking, canoeing, and rafting down rivers.

There is a Lot of Green Space

Sacramento has an extensive network of parks, green space, and natural areas that allow you to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are miles of bike lanes and paths in Sacramento County alone. You can find the best local activities for all ages in the green spaces. With places to walk, play, and ride, people enjoy being able to get outdoors with their families and enjoy the beautiful climate in Sacramento.

Sacramento is Exciting

You’ll never have to worry about being bored in Sacramento. With its museums, art centers, theaters, and other cultural venues, not to mention the plethora of outdoor activities and a variety of California mountains available within an hour’s drive—from hiking in the mountains or kayaking on the river—you can spend your days doing whatever you want. This is a great place for any traveler who enjoys exploring new things.

The Food is Delicious

If you love food, there aren’t many better places in the country than Sacramento. This is especially true if you are looking for locally-owned restaurants. In fact, many of the best restaurants in Sacramento are locally owned and operated. They offer fresh ingredients, unique fusions of different cultures, and so much more. You’ll find Asian-inspired cuisine, Mexican, American, and so much more.

Great Transportation

There are plenty of options when it comes to getting around town, whether you drove to get here, rented a car, or want to try alternatives to car travel. If you’re tired of driving or want to save some money on gas, there are plenty of public transit options, including the bus system (RT), light rail (RT), and streetcar. These are great ways to get around. If you’d prefer, the climate in Sacramento is also great for biking. And if you happen to be joining the growing number of people traveling in electric vehicles, you’ll find plenty of Tesla charging stations and other options to re-juice your batteries.

The People are Great

While having access to public transportation, housing, and jobs are important, it’s the people that really make a place wonderful to live in. The people who live in Sacramento are passionate about what they do and work hard to make Sacramento a great place to be. The people of Sacramento are some of the friendliest, most welcoming people you will ever meet. People here are more than willing to help you out if you need it. There is also a sense of community and giving back in this region. It makes it a great place to live and is one of the reasons that people of all ages love Sacramento.

Traffic is Better Than in San Francisco or Los Angeles

Traffic is lighter than in other areas of California, meaning you can get from Point A to Point B more quickly and with ease. The highways are better designed and maintained, making them less congested than other routes through the state. You are less likely to spend hours a day in traffic even if you are coming in from a small town outside the city.
