Rome, the capital of Italy, needs no introduction. This historic city was the heart and soul of the Roman Empire. You’ll find a lot of historic monuments and buildings like the famous Colosseum, Pantheon, Forum and much more. Explore the Vatican and get awed by the grandeur of the Sistine Chapel. Enjoy romantic walks through the floodlit-fountain squares, and indulge in the charm of this beautiful city. There are so many attractions in Rome that you just have to come back again and again to this city. Spend your days relaxing in any of the Luxury hotels in Rome, do some shopping and sightseeing and you will have the perfect vacation. There is no best time to visit Rome, as no matter when you visit, you’ll have a plethora of things to do. Here are the top 10 things which you must do while you are in Rome.

1. Visit Vatican City

The most obvious thing which you have to do when you are in Rome is, seeing the Vatican City. It is one of the most popular and widely known tourist attractions in Rome. Here you will find a lot of famous sights like the St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the house of the pope, and much more. Vatican City also houses many of the famous museums in Rome.

2. See the Pantheon

Your sightseeing in Rome cannot be complete until you visit the Pantheon. This 2000 years old building is a wondrous monument all by itself. Just gaze at the beautiful architecture and learn all about its history while you are here.

3. Visit the Colosseum

Another one of the great historic attractions in Rome is the Colosseum. It was the largest amphitheater of the entire Roman Empire. Explore the arena where the mighty gladiators once fought, and embrace the magnitude of this huge historic structure.

4. Wander through the Forum

The historic sites in Rome never seem to end. This the place from where Rome administered its entire empire. Go on a guided tour to learn all about the history of the place.

5. Explore the Palatine Hill

Palatine Hill lies just beside the Forum. The Roman aristocracy used to live here. Exploring the place with a guide will bring the ruins into life.

6. Witness the Trevi Fountain

You cannot visit Rome and not see (probably) the most famous fountain in the world. Famous among romantic couples, this insanely beautiful fountain is also one of the oldest water sources in Rome.

7. Explore the Catacombs

Explore the Catacombs of Praetextatus, the Catacombs of San Sebastiano, and the Catacombs of San Callisto. The underground sculptures and frescoes make the catacombs stunningly beautiful.

8. Wander through Trastevere

Wander through the small alleys and eat at the hidden local joints you can find in the Trastevere area. The place doesn’t see many tourists, so you can have a better look into the Roman way of life.

9. Visit the Spanish Steps

Built in the 1720s, the Spanish Steps has become a buzzing social hub. The streets near the steps are also great for some shopping in Rome.

10. Explore the churches

Last but not the least, there are a lot of churches which are some of the must see attractions in Rome. Explore the churches and appreciate the art and the architecture and the beauty of these structures.
